Yes you can, The best way to do it is to locate one of the rarer matching bodies. This is the one with the fuel bowl on the opposite side. They are hard to find these days, however. By the time you rebuild that, source a manifold and linkages, a second hand set may be a better answer. Hmm, I have a spare manifold, linkages and a handed carb in VGC off a cooper S set MK2. Make me an offer! (no heat shield tho) The other way to do this is to use a pair the same as your current HS2, but linkage setups are tricky. They don't look as good and will have much less resale value. May save you a few $$ tho. Cheers Matt |

do you know how difficult it is to make a set of twin carbs from an individual one and a spare, or is it the same as rebulding a set? with regards to putting an offer in i cant say much money because i crashed my mums car and took the bumper off, so am about $400 in debt. shuddnt be too long though so would you accept about $150 for the linkages, manifold and handed carby, or am i way out on the value of it? joe |

The sports 850 has 2 standard HS2 carbs linked. These cars were hotted up through a dealer arangement and I would suggest getting some Pics of the setup, no use re inventing the wheel. If your only doing it for performance, then high flow your current carb and put it on a good manifold and you'll be running better breathing cap then stock twin cooper setup. Follow the steps in the (our lord) Visard 3rd edition tuning the A series and you'll see whats needed. I personally would suggest a 1x1/2 carb per above and sell off your reco. Good Luck |

There is no way you are going to get any performance out of a single HS2, they are TOO SMALL! Twins made from 2 single carbs can be done. A little fidly to get all the linkages right, but will be cheaper than finding a mirror carb. |

Sports 850s actally had twin 1 1/4 or HS1 carbs. I have seen pics of these being handed before, perhaps someone like "sports850" could shed more light. twin hs2 carbs is a great way to go, but a good single hs4 may also be OK. i prefer twins. If you like the look of them, they're better than a single hs4 in most regards anyway, so they'd be the ones to get. look around and see what you like. |

They can either be LH and RH like a Cooper, or both LH like the original 850 Sport. Not sure which Matt means either.. ![]() |

Not sure which Matt means either.. ![]() ![]() I meant LH and RH, like 'matched' only more confusing! ![]() ![]() I have seen a matched set of 1.125" HS1s that were supposed to be off a sports 850, but also the version with two LH carbs. Both were on Alexander Manifolds?? Who knows after all these years different dealers, different parts, replaced over time, lucky if it still looks like a mini ![]() ![]() Ahem, Hands topic back.... |
