I have access to a lathe and am toying with the idea of making my own new bearings for my primary gear

Anybody had a go at this????

What material did you use???

Before someone asks...the tail on my crank is worn and I am planning on having it ground and making the primary gear bearings to suit.... (unless someone has a cheap 1100s crank and primary gear for sale  )

Yep I made one a year or so ago from LG2 spec bronze, for Cody's GT.
Crank was worn on the front tail bearing so we had it ground .003" undersize.
Bush was a floating design, a copy of the MSC one.
Clearances I used on the bush were .0015" outside, .003" inside, and .010" end float inside the gear.
Dunno if it's running yet- Cody appears to have vanished from the scene... :?

<edit> this was a front bush only, the rear (ie towards clutch) one was still OK.
