Post subject:  Forged versus pressed steel rockers?
I am building a road 1310 and about to do the head and valve train work.
It will be running a RE13 cam 12G940 head with camber and port work.
It will mainly use as a daily but will a bit of weekend spirited driving.
I have a set of Cooper S rockers and standard set. My main question is do they have the same lift?
Also I have heard that the S ones have inconsistencies with the lift, is there a way of fixing this?

I think all of the std (S or pressed) have inconsistent lift. Pressed steel are better than late model sintered because they usually only bend. Check the pads on your S rockers, they are only case hardened and will wear quickly.

If you can spend a few extra dollars I would sell the S rockers on fleabay and use the money to make up a set of the toyota ones. This is assuming you don't have an 'S' engine in which case you should maybe keep them with the engine.

1275 pressed steel ones with the oval pads are recognised as the best rocker BMC made, lift wise. They are close to 1.3.
Mini Se7en racers in UK run them, I've heard.

One way to improve the lift of both the pressed steel, and Cooper S forged rockers was fit a set of offset bushes. I did a set of S ones years ago.
Sadly, these bushes are NLA now. You would have to get them made.

:idea: Maybe TheMiniman can set up and run 1,000 or so if we ask nice...
