Whats my motor? 99h791p 424785 its a late 998 (UK) i think, it has the camxxxx head, with solid rockers etc, but it also has a 1/2 inch lobe'd camshaft, and the simplex chain is missing its tensioner, there is very little sign of wear, and no evidance that its ever been apart, should a 998 have this cam? discussion welcomed ![]() |

hmmmm ok, we never got the smog head here, but its got the unleaded head. oh dear, to confuse this further, its got an a+ gearbox, with a 3.4 diff. this is the second similar engine i have pulled down in the last year ![]() and whats with this cam, its slot drive, with 2 rings, does the a+ 998 block have ribs? also the actual engine number seems high. i dont mean to sound like ive found anything amazing, its just a confusing stock 998 |

You can identify your cam from Vizards book - How wide are the cam lobes? |

does the cam have 2 rised rings between lobe 3 and 4? and vizards book does not cover all A+ cams |

not sure but could be this one: Timing: (Intake): 5/45 (Exhaust): 51/21 Duration (Intake): 230 (Exhaust): 252 if it is this one, it should be timed in at 106° ATDC and not 110° the manual says |
