Hi to all the professional Mini people out there, Ok I got a situation here. Currently I got a 998cc auto and wishing to replace the engine, most likely a 1275 and a manual gearbox. Do I need to find a manual subframe as well? Does anyone know who is selling a 1275 engine in manual? Thank you so much. Albert |

A manual will go into an auto subframe, but an auto won't go into a manual subframe, so you'll be OK Put your location in & someone may be able to help you with the motor/gearbox |

Yes a manual box and motor will bolt into an auto subframe, you just need to make some 3/8" thick steel packing plates to go between the mounts and the subframe. |

There are lots brake issues with putting in 1275, you will have to upgrade to disk brakes. It might pay to look at an 1100. What condition is th ethe 998 and Auto transimission in and do you plan to sell it. You may be better off selling the Auto transmission/motor and subframe as one package and then puting in a 1275 with a subframe and disk brakes. |

♠Topic says for '89 rover mini, so if all is correct, the car will already have them. ![]() |
