Does anyone know if these are available in Aus..? Its apparently visibly the same as the standard rack, but the lock to lock is reduced to the standard 2.75 turns to 2 turns. Sounds like a good way to get more of a go-kart feel to the car... ![]() Oh would this be legal to change also...? |

Er.. you have an Oz Mini, it already has a 2.2 (approx) turns rack... unless you've fitted a UK MK2 one... ![]() BTW if you fit a UK one you should change the steering arms too, as the geometry is now NBG with the Oz arms. |

Bluddy Haynes... ![]() Best books for Oz cars are the Australian ones. Look for Scientific Publications/Gregorys #64 for roundnoses, or # 02 for Clubbies. Dunno if still available new. You can still get the Leyland Workshop Manual, 1976, NEW, from www.pitstop.net.au for arounf $70. It's a good book, but there are various typos in the specs sheets. ![]() |

nah that one is great. I am talking about the Haynes Mini Performance Manual. Got some good stuff in there, but I thought Oz minis would have been pretty much the same with things like steering racks (like why would they change them...??? ![]() The Doc fixed my suspension problem. 20 mins, a home made hydro pump and a whole lot of appreciation later (its nice to know people who help still exist out there) me and Mo were back on the road albeit an inch higher and oh so more comfortable. ![]() |

The Oz and UK Mk1 racks were pretty much the same, but on the MK2 the Poms reduced the turning circle by fitting a longer rack with more teeth. This meant new Mk2 steering arms too. Turns went up to 2.75 or so. Our cars never got the UK MK2 racks, but they have been sold here since. Like I said, watch what arms you use with them. There is about 1/4" difference in the hole where the tierod end goes in. |

sheet GAF .. I forgot I need to get the details to Anton so he can see what his friend thinks. By the looks of it, I will need to modify the bonnet (anyone think that having a bling bling air filter sticking out of a mini bonet AKA like the old holley fords and holdens would look "different") or get a different air filter, or go for a different carby... Project in motion. For now is a CV replacement and a new exhaust and a couple of cruises. |
