hey all,
well, the austin 1300 with bling induction setup had a power run on saturday, i knew it was too rich, but we ran it up anyway.
she made 41.0@3958 at the wheels and 67lbft@2430, :lol:
The air fuel ratio was between 12.4 and 13.2 for most of the range, but generally getting richer as it went.
the torque curve is fairly linier (downwards) from 2500 - 5200
power goes all wobbly up above 4000.

bareing in mind the intake and exhaust went on last week and the needle was guesswork and a file im faily happy.
the question is, what should it have made, and what sort of loss am i getting through the gearbox (standard) ? i would think this makes it arround the 55bhp at the flywheel?

sounds like a good start.... just get that ignition sorted out above 4K, cos it should make more than that. My 1310 S that was getting very tired made 52 atw on it's second run, after fixing a mucked up plug and points gap that wouldn't let it go over 4K and made 45 atw.

not sure about your bigger wheels though - as they're harder to spin up than mini wheels

i think i need to seriously look at the needle, and i hadent even thought of the ignition, its stock as a rock with new points/condensor/leads, stil running vac advance so ill look into that also, i had to advance it ALOT to get it to run with the extractors.
will try get it run again after some serious trial and error and see what happens, next stop new nedle and chect the dizzy over :D

a perfect stoichiometric mixture is 13, so yours should be good.... between 12 and 12.5 is where I've tried to get my mini.

I'm having doubts about myself again - I've been under the impression that a higher number means a leaner mixture - am I wrong again?

yea you are right, i had thought that it was mid 13's for performance, but 14.somthing chemicly correct(perfect combustion.
perhaps the black smoke i am experiancing is due to ignition breaking down, i hadent even concidered it! i think it is still a little rich as the sensor was at the end of the pipe which is not ideal.
it is amazing how much info the dyno spits out, i am most impressed.
right, ill get onto that ignition!
