Hey,

I'm thinking of painting my engine bay black, even though the rest of the car is blue.
Won't be glossy, just matt.

Anyone got any pics of a black bay for me to have a gander at to make up my mind?

Thanks.

The photos above are a gloss black, and they look alright.
But as I said, I'm thinking matt.

Car is Shadow Blue, black is/was semi gloss but it's covered in so much dust and oil that it looks matt

The engine had been painted silver along the lines that the theory being to cool the engine - silver radiates the heat and the black absorbs it therefore taking the heat away from the engine - He would have been better off cleaning the cooling system properly as it was all gunked up.

Mine is matt but has over sprays and scratchs everywhere, so im repainting it soon while the engines out. Or at least the radiator. Im going semi-gloss this time, as I did that for the inside of my bootlid and looks nice, not ugly not pretty, just right.

PS the radiator is comming out to put Aux fan in, and to get radiator cover chromed! 8)

Painting the same colour as the car is so...ordinary/original. The reason I went amt black is due to grease and crap getting all over the place. Matt black hides all of that! :D

with the exception of Hanra's car...droool...
black looks crap, cos when you get it all dusty it shows up, even matt black, i like my engine bay clean, mines blue with the rest of the car, if my car was white, id love a white bay, easy to see when its clean, you spend most of your time under there so why not have it be a nice place to cut your hands.

Yes I do agree. But black and chrome/polished alloy is the best engine bay look IMO. As CHrome looks better when contrasted agasints the elast shiniest colour, matt black. SO if like me, saving up money to take random parts off and get chromed, black is the way to go, but in that case a black engine aswell is the best to go for!
