You can't make a mini go "fast" for small amounts of money.

Get over it.

That's all.

its all relitive though, if your driving an 850 arround, chucking in a cheepo 1098 with twins and a descent exhaust will make you feel fast!

as above...its all about the bends!

Or if you buy willy's cast off performance parts

As the others said , you can make a difference fairly easily , it won't be a porsche beater , but it will still be a faster mini . Do it in stages and remember we're dealing with very old technology as the starting point , don't expect them to outdo a ricer in every way , mini's already outhandle most cars anyway ...

As far as I'm concerned a Mini with a Starlet motor or similar, with an all up build cost of $10-$15k, is a lot of speed for relatively little money. It's all a matter of perspective.

my 1275 has about the same performance as a 6 cyl falcodore, but without the top end :?

and thats with mods, and the falcodore people can do mods too :?

thank god for corners 8)

It depends on what you class as cheap. The power to weght of the old girl matches and is a lot cheaper than a current 911 turbo. May not last as long but at 42 years old I dont expect to be putting in warranty claims.

$20 of petrol should get you to a cliff edge. I bet your going fast when you hit the bottom!!

Most cars go a lot faster then they're ever driven. Build a responsive engine package, upgrade brakes and refresh the suspension and fun is but a key turn away!

The stage 1 kits from MiniSpares give between 18% and 22% power increase on a small block for relatively cheap :-)

But i guess its a given... if you wanna go fast for cheap, buy a jap car
if you wanna go fast in a mini get a decent job and move back in with your parents :-P

Well a Jap may be faster in a stright line but how much does it cost to make a jap car handle nearly as good as a mini, good coil over kits and all the rest cost $5k plus and then it only just handle as well so as they say swings and roundabouts :D
