Is this the headlight relay I want?

Image

I found it in a box of bits from a clubby I wrecked about 5 years ago, didn't notice it till now! It has two 30 amp fuses (1 blown), two L terminals, two S terminals and a B terminal. Can anybody tell me how to hook it up. I'm hoping it still works. :wink:

That is the old style one but it should still be fine.
Very simple to hook up. It is a double switch so you can hook it up for high and low or for Left and Right high beam.

B= Battery. Run a thick cable from the battery to the B terminal.
S= Switch.
L= Light

I want to do something like this (eventually)....where do most people pick up power for there relay-ed headlights :?:

The original wiring is pathetic...so I was thinking.....use it as a switch for the relays only and maybe run a decent power cable from the starter solenoid terminal block.

Yep, run a thick wire fron the soleniod to the relay, use the original wire from the switch to the relay, run a decent wire from the relay to the lights.

Well I'll be installing it at the same time as I convert to an alternator, so I'll take the regulator out, and probably join the three thick brown wires on to the B terminal - from memory one of them goes to the solenoid, one is the ignition and the other is headlight power anyway, so that should work fine.

Looking at schematic on box:
L1 and L2 go to lights
S1 and S2 go to high/low beam switch
B is 12V+, goes to battery cable on solenoid (use thick wire).
S is earth to a point on body- again, use thick wire.

re the L1/S1 and L2/S2, I just cut the blue/white and blue/red wires near the fusebox, and mounted the relay there.
