Very nice, different.....Doc? DOes a stock cooper s produce that 78 hp at the crank/flywheel or the wheels? If its the wheels I'm up for a dissappointing effort at the dyno day LOL!

Cooper S was allegedly 75 or 78 BHP (depending which book you read) at the CRANK.

You wouldnt need to cool the charge. By the time it got all the way up there it should be cool

You wouldnt be getting as much back pressure being that far down the pipe, but you would also be losing exhaust velocity down there so the turbo wouldnt be as effective.

Not a max power solution but could be alright for medium boost.

Why doesnt someone just mount a small turbo on the su rotate the installation and put it in a firewall box and be done with it. What is it with all this plumbing? Am I missing something?

I know mini bays are tight, but your loosing heaps of power through big inlets tracts.

Good fabrication though.

Keep away from floods with that set up :D
Its an interesting and proved concept, well done to the bloke to have the balls at trying something different.
Cmon people a turbo in the boot still hasnt been done it can have its own recirculating oil supply in there as well as grills cut out like a VW beetle. 8)

Different..... yes.

Police would never find the turbo at a roadside inspection, so you could get away with not getting it engineered (in South Australia I mean)...

But what a silly idea. All that extra weight in the pipes.... and having the inlet pipe AND turbo vulnerable to damage like that .... he would be stupid not to put a big shield under that lot unless he wants to do a willy and rip it off over a bump in the road....

I've seen this done to another car in America (the turbo at the back like that). I think it was something on foxtel.

I know a bloke with an LT1600 Celica (the first model sold in Aus) and he has a lexus 4l V8 in it, with a the turbo behind the passenger seat (no rear seats and lots of sheilding - IC is back there too), 2.5 meters of 3" tubing from the turbo to the inlet and there is NO lag, it's frigging amazing. Originally he had 2 turbos at the front, on either side of the engine bay behind the headlights, he didn't like the weight being that far forward, and wanted a bit of lag in it because it's a daily driver so designed the rear install - didn't work the way he wanted though - more power and still no lag!
