Post subject:  Mounting larger exhaust pipe

I have a 1 3/4 exhaust on my car which is currently bolted to a mounting under the boot valance and bolted again near the fuel pump.

It the precedes to mosey along to the extractors where it is U Clamped. But there is nothing else bolting it up on the engine end.

Should there be another mounting point near the gearbox to take away some of the strain from my extractors??

If so can someone help me with an explanation on how this should be mounted

I have a pudding stick

thanks

for clarity (and to stretch my drawing legs) i have drawn a pic.

The mounting are in red (exhaust is blue") and NO it isnt a clubman

that's a fancy bracket - it's usually just a bit of steel welded to the extractors and bolted to the diff housing with one of those bolts...

hows that with the big expensive maniflow extractors and rubber unis!

I have a lower engine steady (gbox - subframe) fitted on my car.

If i put a exhaust clamp on the exhaust, i can get it to line up with the engine steady rod.

It would be easy for me to make a metal 'bracket' that goes over the two bolt ends of the clamp, then up looping overthe engine steady rod and back down over the two bolt ends again.

which then i would bolt up.

This an easy way of doing it. My only worry is would this stop the extractors from braking off at the head??

because technically the exhaust will not be vibrated with the engine OR the car body, but a cross between the two.

do you see what im saying??

i would hope i can go with this as i can do it myself without a welder.
