ok, so thatll be a d-series, single cam 16valve im thinking, these fit into a mini quite nicley, very light, good power and the conversion dosent look Too bad.

hey well looking at a mates rotary, i quickly noticed it a little something different, it was injected, i asked him who made the setup and he said he did, he had a 12a, normally a 1200CC carby motor, what he had done was he had a injection setup from a commodore and made a plenum or inlet manifold (which ever suits you), and made a different fuel rail, could this be done with a mini a+ motor, any thoughts |

fuel injection on a 5 port mini will restrict you in power over a carby car. you can't compare a injected rotary to a 5port 4 stroke 4 cyl a-series. |

Theres a long answer and a short answer. The short one is that you have to have good sequential injection for a port injected 5-pot A-series engine. Only (apart from one Matt Read knows about) expensive computers do the job so it just isn't worth it. You can use the Rover SPi style of electric carby, single point injection with very high injector duty cycles and get it to work but these set-ups suffer all of the manifold wetting and manifold geometry shortcomings of a carby so again, why bother. It all comes down to the shared ports and the firing order. Without shared ports the world is yours. I can provide the long answer if you want. But it is boring.... M |

i had a thought like that for 10 sec, it didnt look like it would never actually got to measure, be sides from what i heard i cant let my celica run out of rego, or make it pass a blue slip, they want to change the rulse saying you cant cross swap engines, ie toyota into mazda, they are going to make it so you can sit a similar model with the same stud pattern for the bell housing and the same sort of engine bracket, i dont know the whole story but thats what i was told by the mecha |

Don't fall for any of that hearsay from your local mechanic. Get onto the DOTARS website and download the draft national code of practice for light vehicle modifications. They will be the rules for all of Aus pretty soon. M |
