Post subject:  Rover Round Nose On Clumbman

I am fitting a Rover round nose front to a clubman.
What is the best thing for the front subframe mounts.
How thick should the spacer be?
Is the subframe hole concentric with the large hole in the front?
Does the standard Rover rubber mont fit?

This is the other way around though..... Rover nose over an Aussie subframe....

The Rover rubber mounts will still be required. Or you can make your own with washers or a solid aluminium sleeve/block.. The mount is 20mm thick (from what I remember).

Subframes between Morris/Leyland/Rover are all the same size - the only difference is that the Rover has different shaped mounting locations for the front of the subframe to allow for the rubber spacers.

The rubber spacer was introduced to make the car feel a bit softer over bumps, and to absorb some of the engine vibrations. It is actually a weak point because the subframe can move - Tuning companies sell solid mounts to improve the mini's handling.

To me, that means he's doing a panel swap, same as what i'm doing.

We shall find out, I guess

Guys,
I am doing the pannel swap.
I have removed the rusted clubman front and am fitting the Rover front with the original standard Australian subframe.
Is the Rover subframe (which I do not have) different at the front mounts?
Are the holes in the Australian subframe concentric with the large holes in the Rover front?

Holes are in the same spot. Yes.

Front of Rover subframe detail is the same, but the Rover panel is forward at that point to allow room for the mount.
Josh's (Mini Mad's) Clubby has a UK front panel, same situation.

Guys, Thanks for the info. 20mm is on the mark for the spacer. With this, the Rover front fits like it was ment to be there. I will have a couple of spacers made up out of alluminium.
