I'm pretty pissed off at the moment.
I painted some disc hubs 6 months ago with black caliper paint. One hub was completely done, the other didnt get as many coats of paint. So today I decide to finish the job.
Can instructione were: if applying over existing paint, use "this brand" was and grease remover on surface. So I did.
The paint has been wrecked now. The grease stuff has eaten through it and now I just have a black sticky hub where the paint comes off when you touch it!!!

So anyone suggest what I should do now with it?
If I get them 2-packed will that be up to the job of heat resistance?

What should I do now? Anything would be of use at the moment.

take all the paint off of it and paint it in white knight or something, thick strong stuff so it wont come off

whats white knight. I thought that was a chocolate bar and a cleaning product? Is it some heavy duty paint also?

I used septone from supercheap. Either heatproof engine or brake and caliper paint. I've sprayed it on a set of drums for near 12 months now and still looks like the day it got painted.

Well I'm not completely sure what I'll do at this point, but tomorrow I'll get the grinder oud and get rid of the paint and then do it again from scratch.
If it doesnt look like becoming an easy job I'll get them 2 packed.

Comes in lots of colours.
Easy to apply.

But if you want it to last long, always was the calipers THOROUGHLY after bleeding... paint will bubble and peel quick smart if you don't.

Or you could just get anodized alloy calipers

I went out to the garage to discover the hub dry again.
I sanded it back to a more solid paint level and applied a few new coats.
Next week I'll put the parts in the oven for a while. Bake that paint in!

I just think it's pathetic how they (VHT) and others can make a BRAKE CALIPER paint that gets stripped off by brake fluid!!!
Yes I have 1st hand experience....

Maybe 2 pack it, might fade with heat but at least it should stay on. I know acid won't strip it...

I haven't put any of my newly painted parts to the brake fluid test yet.
Thats a way off yet, and I'm sure that'll present it's own problems.

My actual calipers have been sitting around for months now, all pretty with its new
paint, pistons and seals. Hope it hasn't deteriorated by the time assembly comes along!

I painted my calipers a while back, but didn't use the special epoxy brake paint, as I couldn't wait for it to dry, so I got a spray can of hammer finish paint instead, dries real quick, tough and durable, and BlInG bLiNg metallic too.
The metallic light blue calipers look great on my dark blue metallic car.
