Hi All,
I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is on a water heated manifold for the a-series.
I'm currently building a nice little spicy 1030cc motor with twin 1 1/4" carbs and I've heard various points both for and against the idea.
The plan may be to simply attach a copper pipe to the manifold and run it from the heater tap outlet to the radiator.

Cheers

I think the general consensus was that it's not necessary in Australia due to the fact it doesn't get cold enough here. Others may have a different opinion however.

Thanks

I'd heard that it was pretty useless in Aus but I'd also heard that in the colder parts of the country they were very handy.

The problem is being in Melbourne, I need to be prepared for four seasons in one day, still I suppose it doesn't get as cold here as in the alps.

Cheers

Yeah it depends on where you live, when I was running an SU on my car it would ice up every morning on the way to work. It really needed a water heated manifold. Never got round to it (I run a Dell'orto now), however I would have been interested to know how effective it was.
