I have a 64 morris mini it has a 1380 with the cooper S disk brakes you have to push down hard to make them stop the car and it takes a bit of time to stop can you put a brake booster on or is there something I can do. ![]() |

Yes you can fit a booster. The Cooper S came standard with them. But first.... Make sure everything else is working properly, like the brake hases are not blocked internally and the wheel cylinders are not rusted up. |

Yes, you can fit a booster (new they are $400+) but there are other things to look at first. Like brake pads... If you DON'T race it, I'd recommend EBC Street Kevlar (Blackstuff) pads, they are bloody awesome, even when cold! If you DO race it or use in competition, I recommend EBC Greenstuffs. They are better when real hot, but not-so-good when cold... I'd do the pads first, then see if you still want a servo. I've driven mine 9 years now without one.. ![]() |

Besides that, the Doc's car like mine has a under bonnet secondary radiator which is smack bang in the place of where the brake booster goes. So there is no room for a brake booster ![]() |

Boot! wow... If you use the blackstuff pads like Doc's car it should be fine without a booster. I've been in his car with greenstuffs (which are worste when cold), it's stops ok... brake pedal can't be much harder than twin leading front drums surely... ![]() ![]() |

If you do go the booster route, try get a seconhand one and get it recon'd. a new PBR unit will set you back about $500. not too cheap. if your running a manual, i'd try some different pads as suggested. I went for the booster in my g/fs minimatic, they do take up a lot of room and are pretty heavy, but i think in this case its needed.. and yes i still have the extra heater core, just not in the big black box ![]() |

Thanks guys I know a guy in geelong I saw him today and he said he can get me a new one for about $200 he has been working on mini's for about 25 years he has looked at my brakes and said that it would be a good idea to get a booster. |

Yeah I think my VH44 booster cost about $250, s/h but in very good condition. Waste of money in my opinion, I took it off after a while. I have no dramas locking the wheels on demand and I can hold them just off locking, which is much harder with a booster. Takes a bit of getting used to though! |

i had to put a booster on mine to keep engineer happy, no room in my bay for a windscreen washer bottle no way a booster would fit so i fitted it under the dash on passenger side, out of the way and works well. My vh44 cost $20 of ebay but needed a reco which set me back $250. |
