i was just wondering what pulsar dizzies actually do as everyone is talking about them?

They are electronic, basically, less moving parts, no wear, better spark, consistent timing and not really affected by water to the extent that points are.

A distributor is what tells each spark plug to spark and when to do it.

I can vouch for them making a difference.
When I put the pulsar on after the lucas, it suddenly transformed the car into a much more easily drivable car. It was previously a cammy, grumpy weber fed nightmare. It made a big difference down low. I don't drive mine a lot and rarely in the rain so the advantage of the better weather protection wasn't as big an issue but certainly would be for a daily driver.
