Post subject:  Shockies for rear of van

Guys, I want the adjustable Konis for my van. Ive been told I can get fronts but nothing is avalable for the rears. That cant be true.

What shocks can I put on the rear similar to a Koni? When finished it will more than likely be used for track and hillclimbs.

'78 Clubman Van

thanks, if you can help

Gareth_1330 had Konis front and rear on his van, years back. Fronts were Koni Sport, rear were Koni standard.
Ping him for details..

Do you really need the whole adjustable job on the back? Surely as Kevin said, Koni standard on the rear, that would do fine.

Koni's standard shock was adjustable too, had softer valving than the Sport. Both have to come off car to adjust.

Testimonial:
Unlike some, Konis LAST. And you can get them repaired....
I had Koni Sports on my Fiat 124S for 150,000 miles. When the car rusted out I took them off, got them rebuilt by the distributors, and put them on another Fiat I'd restored. Did 100,000 miles in that one before I sold it. 8)

Hi JIll

I'll have to have a look at your site shortly and see how you are going. This week I'll be doing some ringing around for rear shocks as you are looking for Mini Van rear adjustables and Prefered Koni's. I'll let you know how I get on.
I'm lead to believe that the Van rear turret will not take a large outer casing shock.
Are you also doing ajustable camber brackets for the rear also, I got mine from Karcraft $97

Cheers

They will tell you that the "van" ones are unavailable, cause van rear shocks are 30mm longer. Now i've just put new standard no name brand sedan shocks on my van, no problems.

Yes yes, I know that... just saying that stockos go fine on vans, unsure about adjustables.

*hands icecream to gafmo.

Thanks guys, I'll be heading up to Perth later this week hopefully, will pull out a rear shock and take it with me to the shockie places and demand a replacement. I dont need adjustable, it would be nice though. I never change the settings on the Nissans adjustables for track/street, so the Van prolly wont get changed either. As long as its set right in the first place. Anyone race a van? It wouldnt be much different to a normal Mini? Anyone who races theirs - what setting would you recommend?

With a RWD Nissan I run full firm front and half firm rears (adjustable Konis)
Id guess FWD Mini - full - 3/4 firm fronts and half firm rears.. ??

Rear would defnetly need to be a little softer for corners added with Neg Cambre on the rear shgould be just nice. And if you can dial it in, for a straighter track or a hair pin at every turn. Or you could always show off arounf the park.
I'm doing the treck tomorrow for a number of things and lets see what we come up with. 8)
