Half a day soldering, filing cutting sanding = almost no noticable improvment.
Still to sort exhaust though...and I need a different filter.

Not bad for a bit of old old waterpipe imho!

Looks just like the ones GR makes for Webers except his are often shorter.
Reckons they work on Webers and do SFA on SUs... on the dyno anyhow.

I wonder about their value as well, all that lovely smooth airflow is completely stuffed up by that rotten SU CV Piston that sits in the middle of the intake path...

Would have to be allright on wide open thropttle though :?:

Yup - on the Minor; I've gone to the Mini 1-1/2" + manifold 'cause it's a straight swap - mates up to my still standard exhaust. It's an amazing difference over the original 1-1/8"!

You might be able to modify the base of the speedwell to make it fit a 1-1/2" - but I wouldn't if it's a period item. (unless it was just a matter of swapping bases or something reversable)

yea, its tempting to go to a 1 1/2 especially as ive got several laying arround, and a pair of twins, ive got an hs2 in ther insted of the 1 1/8, as the filter fits. my car is a 1950 low light that has been modified slightly in the past, with all morrie 1000 running gear, no rear bumper or boot lock/handle (just rubber toggles) so the speedwell filter fits just nicely. wish i could find another the same.....hens teeth....
whats your morrie?

Mine's a '58 1000 4 door. I'ts basically stock (original matching number engine and gearbox) with only sympathetic mods - Bosch alternator, Pulsar electronic distributor, halogen headlamps, carb etc. Still a project - not registered, but currently running and driveable.

Any mods I've made are all bolt on and reverseable. I want it to be driveable in modern traffic, but I still want it to be a Minor.

I am modifying one of my spare engines as a bit of a test using mostly later Mini parts (head & cam) and having a go at porting and polishing the head.

Still a project - not registered, but currently running and driveable. Paint and a few small mods all that's left to do.

i find mine isint too bad in city trafic, under 50k as the gearinig is really low. i have to do paint and brakes, but thankfully have no rust... :D
i brought mine with the 948 etc(was first reg here in 1972, i assume with the mods) and its really not worth putting back to a sidevalve as its nice to be able to drive it. (mine now has a 202 head also)
good luck with your project, i wish mine was all one colour too!!

my dad has a bunch of minors... of the registered ones

a '61 4 door with a 1275 from an 1100S with the crank tail chopped off and fitted with a flywheel boss
a 51 tourer with a 1275 from a pommy marina
and a 51 tourer restored with the sidevalve

I'm gradually converting him to minis though, 3 minis against 5 minors...

i forget that aussie didnt get the 1300 marina, you can get them for free here, quite easily, and the disc brakes, strong rear end, engine, and box can all go in a minor :)
