Ok the dizzy is in and it's wired up + timed correctly.
When i take it for a test run it goes great for a couple of mins then starts coughing and carrying on, it won't rev for a while then it's ok for a sec then plays up again and again? Would this be the module thats died/dying?

Any clues as to whats up?
The coil is new and the leads are in great condition as are the plugs.
Also doesn't do this with the std mini dizzy either.

- remove the earth from the coil

Is the vacumn adavance connected try disconnecting it. Did you time it with the vacumn advance disconnected ?

No, those are right.

It's just that in my original answer in the other thread, I said that the coil should also be hooked up with ignition to +ve & earth to -ve.
No earth is required.

Hmmm, did you block the vacuum take off on the carb?
Not sure why you are getting this problem, they are quite reliable units & it is unusual for one to break down at high revs. If they fail, they normally don't fire at all.

How wide are the spark plugs? Mine fires at .035" OK, but if they get out to .040" I get a slight misfire when cold during acceleration (Nissan coil).

I used to suggest .040" gaps and that's probably OK with a GOOD coil (eg Bosch GT40-R) but with the ex-Nissan ones, don't run that wide if it misses.
