Hello all, Wondering if anyone can tell me if the brake and clutch master cyliner are interchangable? Or is there a mod required? Thanks. |

Yeah, well.... it depends.. ![]() Most Minis have a 0.700" bore brake master cylinder (except early 850, and 998 Cooper) Most Minis have a 0.750" clutch master cylinder. If using `tin tank' MCs the flanges are different orientation between clutch and brake. Brake MCs have a slow-return restrictor valve in top, clutch ones don't. If using plastic tank cylinders (Lockheed/PBR) the 0.700 brake will work as a clutch one, but you will get less clutch stroke to release the plate, clutch will tend to drag. So.... whaddya wanna do?? ![]() |

MOST of the ones i recondition seem to be the wrong bore for the application, and do/dont have valves where they should/shouldn'tt... I have a feeling my clutch one is incorrect.... G |

On the Lockheed/PBR plastic tank ones, the bore is often marked on the body. ![]() |
