Hi guys,

Well, the engine rebuild is almost done. Unfortunately the black was out of square along with the head, and as well as a rebore, the blocked was skimmed and decked. Much more money than I wanted to spend... :x

I however need to get a new camshaft. Any suggestions. The engine is now a 1380, runs a weber 40DCOE, LCB extractors, slightly larger valves, cooper rods, heavily ported and polished inlets on head, ect....

Had a WADE 140 cam and was very happy with this, anyother recommendations. Will do fair bit of road driving, but want it to have a bit of poke still.

Kent 266 with 1.5 ratio rockers
Good mid range & top end with heaps of torque

uuhm would an RE 13 not be the most sensible option in Oz ?

instead of a MD266 i would suggest either a Swiftune SW5 (but it has to be shipped halfway around the world) or a Piper 255 HR (wich is pretty similar i've come to understand)

I'd go an RE13- or maybe, an RE282. Has a bit more midrange & top end, but less bottom end. OK once it hits 2800. :P
I'm running it with 1.5 rockers too.... 8)

I ran a Kent 266 in my 1380 and it was ok, good idle, strong mid range torque but not much higher up.

i've gone for an RE13 in the new 1360. It's not yet run in so I haven't yet given it any serious stick. But it is a better cam IMHO. The Wde 1760 9equivalent of the old ST 649) is pretty good too, but a bit lumpy for heavy traffic conditions.

What is the difference between a RE 13 and a RE 282 :?:

I was very impressed with the RE13 in my 1430....but I am looking for something new (and a little bigger) for the race car.

It will have 1.5/1 rockers on it.

Currently running a LARGE Tighe cam thats all up top and with a very narrow power band and only using standard rockers

Want something a little broader

RE282 as the name suggests has 282* duration. Also a little more lift.
Compared to the RE13 it hits in about 200rpm later, but from then to 7500 (my redline) it's all good news.
It's not bad in traffic but don't expect it to take much throttle below 2700.
I run it in the 1360 with 1.5 rockers. Clearance suggested with these is .020" inlets, .024" exhausts.
No, they don't rattle much. 8)

Yes he does- the 282 is NOT a race cam, but he does also have a fair selection of those.. 8)
