just before i pulled the motor out of my van i had a dellorto running on the 998 motor im going to put this carby on my wifes morris minor. Her motor is getting a 20thou over bore but while ive got the motor apart i was going to do cam and head work, has anyone done something simular on a small block, her motor is also a 998 |

Quite a few guys here are running 40 Dellortos on smallbores now, one even runs a 45 on his 1152.

Its a good choice of carby. I have a 998cc with a DHLA 40G(emission carby)and hasnt missed a bit. The only bitch is the recessed mixture screws...they get all manner of crap in them. Silastic fixes that though. Do it - you know you want to...lol Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |

Forgot to say that it was a 45 but has 32mm chokes does this technically make it a 32mm The power difference was great and they sound awsome the only problem i had was that it wasnt set up and was running very rich knowing that the mini was only going to be on the road for to more weeks ,it cam off an escort 1600 and straight onto the mini so by last friday it was fowling up plugs |

No it doesnt - the chokes are well designed to squeeze the air into a very tight venturi(apparently good for go fast thingies to happen...) The noise is orgasmic too... Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |

sell it and get a 40 mm i hAve a 45mm on my 998 paddock basher and it runs like crap even with small chokes and correct jets and emulsion tubes |

45mm is a bit big if you don't have the right head for it. That said I run a 45 with 34 chokes on a GR 295 head and I cannot complain one bit! The sound is the best part! i fell in love with that before the power gains

I might have to do some research as to what heads will fit on the morris minor block some of the oil galleries are different |

Morris Minor 1000 block (948) is same as an 850 block. Late Morris Minor UK block (1098) is same as a Morris 1100 or Mini K block. Oilways are all the same, exactly. Only difference on both- the rear main bearing cap of MMs has a bit cast onto it for oil return, and 2 oil drain holes (no Mini style rear oil seal used on these). I put a 1098 Sprite block into a Mini once, only mod was to machine the bit off the rear main bearing cap.
