Post subject:  Shortening HT leads?

Has anyone mucked around with cutting and shortening HT heads?

I want to have right angle plugs at each end, and have a few sets of spare leads, so I thought I might have a go. The way that they are stock (ie fibre core bared, folded over insulation and clamped by the steel plug) seems easy enough to replicate.

Is there a reason why I shouldn't cut them? Radio interference?, risk of shorting?

No problems doing it. You can even still buy leads in "kit" form where you cut them to length & put the distributor end contact on. (I've even used paperclips - they fit nicely)
