So i gets the spare remote change gearbox cleaned enough to look at the casting number. i got it out of a K and there is an 1100 sitting on top of it, but guess what? its a 3 synchro 22G382. :?

so anyway, it should be good enough with a rebuild and "competition" diff pins to handle a 1380 with RE13 cam right? that seems to be the consensus here for every other gearbox type that the search came up with.

apart from the advantage of synchro on first and possibly ratios of a K box, is there any reason not to use te 22G382?

advice appreciated
michael

Well the weakest thing in it is 1st gear outer ring, I broke one in 1/2 once first time I did a burnout.
If you drive in a sane fashion it'll be OK, for a while at least.
Does it have S gears in it? post the p/no of cluster gear (stamped in middle).
Mini Deluxe ratios are pretty wide by current standards.

Keep yer eyes open for a K or Mk2 S box, they are stronger.

but yep, no holding back, gotta make the time and scare the wife with the parts prices  not to mention the machining labour

if motor is off box you can read the number on cluster in situ. Mk 1 S one is 22G1100
