I saw one on fleabay for 300 bucks I think I put one on my mini three years ago cost 260 back then I cut off most of the old one, but ground out the last of it from the seams. I then stitch welded it to the old body panels. Had 4 pairs of vice grips to to the alignment job. I used sikaflex on the joints after welding them in places so that the dirt and crap didn't get behind the panel. I also ran a bead along the bottom of the thing, where they have spot welded the stone tray(?) to the front main section. took about a day. I imagine a beater would also do it in a day... I don't know what they charge. |

I might add that when I replace panels I unstitch the old one by drilling out the spots and over heating the braze even use a cold chissel. Then clean up the mating surfaces back to bare metal. Spray them with weld through primer that is loaded with zinc, then Mig through the drill out holes. Seems to have worked so far and it doesnt seem to trap any moisture like seam sealer. Any rust I clean back and give a squirt of weld through primer. My panel beater friend tells me to use seam sealer though. |
