I was talking to a mini guy (who will remain unnamed) who told me that an 1098 engine needs a different manifold to have extractors fitted, which he said was quite expensive. Is this correct? I don't know diddly about these things so i don't want to be ripped off if i take it in to be done. |

A STOCK 1098 will, if it has 1 1/4" carbie. The manifold will need changing, to clear the centre branch. Or you will have a nicely dented up manifold. People do it tho. Go the 1.5" SU and Minispares manifold (or similar)... i hate seeing stock manifolds ground up ![]() |

yer to further elaborate, the standard inlet manifold and exhaust manifold are cast as one piece, so they're joined and you can't replace one without replacing the other unless you grind the inlet manifold off the exhaust part of the manifold. most if not all mini places will be able to provide a second hand inlet manifold of the standard type that has already been seperated from the stock extractors. there is a bit of performance to be gained by using an aftermarket inlet manifold however. |

ok thanks, so a 1.5 su and a minispares manifold or similar it is then. plus extractors, and before i ask im sure there is a thread on whats the best type. SO anybody know how much this is likely to cost? just a ball park figure would do. |

another option is getting a "stage1" kit that has ya minispares inlet manifold, maniflow extractors, new centre cipe and RC 40 all new exhurst mounts, manifold gasket.. looking around the 500 - 600 there or just a minispares manifold (basic) $130 Extractors $150up depending on type and size Best think to do is look on www.minispares.com pick out the part numbers of what ya want.. then ring Tony at minisport SA and get prices.. ring the other places also to compare then go back to em and so if they can better the price.. ![]() |
