Post subject:  Steering Column

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has make there steering column adjustable, as the new Dash i just built/made i need the column to be about 30-50mm lower then what it currently is as i cannot see the gauges, i have worked out that i can put it on its spline thing and it goes lower by itself but not sure if this is any good for the column or rack. If possible i would like to tilt it near the top so as its simular to a newer cars column, if its possible please let me no how...

Cheers

Rikki

Undo the brakets holding the rack in then twist it around to where you want it then retighten the brackets. Easy.

You need a steering column lowering bracket, which allows adjustment- and adjust it after loosening rack clamp bolts as he said ^^^.

This bracket bolts into the existing one under lower dash rail.

Sorry no have pics.
Lift the floor mat/carpet, there are 4 nuts sticking up thru floor, 2 each side. These are the rack U-bolts.
Loosen them, and the steering rack will rotate as you tilt the column.
Here is the bracket you need-

After adjustment, tighten the 4 nuts on floor.

Post subject:  column lengths

I just fitted a longer Column to my clubby, there are 2 lengths so see if you can get the shorter one.

You could also change the boss/steering wheel as well

yep do as above otherwise in around 6 months time you will have to pull the rack out and service it or get a new one. Lowering the Steering Column is a easy job refitting the Rack is not
Do a bit of phoning around for the bracket at the normal places (checkout How to Section) or otherwise UK Ebay always has them
