I got some jellybean rims with no tyres. They are looking a bit sorry for themselves. Bit of gutter damage. Im wanting to respray them a colour....very unsure of what colour atm. What im wanting to know, is what steps do i take to repsray them ? Ive cleaned them up with degreaser and gotten off all the crab. I dont have an air compressor. So what is the best way to respray them and what products do I need ? Thanx, Max. |

Depends how good a job you want? You could get them powder coated? |

Just after a basic freshen up. Would like to do myself if possible. Im thinking either gold, chrome looking (silver) or a metallic Purple. |

any automotive shop like supercheap will have plenty of colours of wheel paint in pressure packs, just mask the bits up you dont want painted and spray away. Will you be painting over the polished metal part of the wheel? or just the colour section? |

Entire lot. Did some reasearch.. From what I gather all i need is some primer (a few coats) then spray whatver colour i want then put some form of clear coat over the top Is that all ? |

yeh you will need a primer as paint dont stick to alloy real good, etch primer works well, then just any paint |

Jelly Beans look good polished with the cut-outs done in black....clear coat over the lot??? So you should be looking at fine grit paper and a way to turn them (like a geared down electric motor) Leave the inner rims alone if they look OK so that the tyres grip good. Are the wheels like these ???? http://users.tpg.com.au/cam_s/mini/DSCF0102.JPG |

One way to turn them for fine sanding IF YOU ARE REAL CAREFUL is jack up one FRONT wheel only and put an axle stand under there, chock the other 3 wheels, then put it in 1st gear, idling only. Don't even think of trying this if you have LSD....! |
