Post subject: | Which extractors are best? |
Hi all, Which extractors would be best for a currently stock 1275 A+ motor? There seems to be a lot of choice out there. Standard advice is to get a RC40 exhaust but not sure which extractors to get. Do they all work? Do some work in different rev ranges? ![]() Help please. |

Since you are in Melbourne I have heard that the Link Automotive LCB are a good bit of kit, anyone got them and tried them I hear some Pom has copied them and claims they are his design ![]() Jon |

yeah LCB (long centre branch) is what you want maniflow or something.. i don't recommend lynx, as they don't fit properly. |

For a road car with 1098 or 1275 upwards I reckon the Maniflow medium bore LCB is best. And they fit well. But make sure it's genuine- there are Chinese crap copies about now. ![]() |

Do I need to do anything different due to SPi. i.e. does it have an exhaust gas sensor that needs to be welded in or anything. (I'm too lazy to go & stick my head under the bonnet, that and I'm at work). |

A SPi motor needs the oxygen sensor in the exhaust. Minimania sell LCB extractors with these fitted but you can convert standard using the an M18x1.5 nut (check, its the same thread as many spark plugs). The sensor is quite big and could restrict flow, even if you position it at the Y in the pipe. It is illegal for you to remove the cat converter if you have a post 1986 mini BTW. ![]() The standard cast manifold and twin down pipe arrangement in the SPi cars is not too bad. See photo. The sensor is in a pocket in the casting so it doesn't restrict flow. M |
