Rare as rocking horse droppings now.... ![]() Alexander stuff was good, but the works cars went with Arden 8 ports in 1968 I believe. At least you can still buy those, if you got the $$$$. Now where did I put that K100 or K1100 bike head... oh yeah, I was dreaming again.. ![]() |

hi can someone define: cross flow 7ports/8ports |
Author: | drmini in aust [ Wed Aug 04, 2004 9:42 pm ] |

Standard Mini head is 5 ports, all on one side of head. 4 cylinders share 2 inlet ports, and centre exhaust port is shared by cylinders 2 & 3. 7port head is crossflow, inlets one side and exhausts the other. Inlets (4) are separate but the centre exhaust is shared by cylinders 2 & 3. 8 port head is crossflow, all ports separate for each cylinder. ![]() <edit> 7 or 8 port heads give a bit more power but cost a fortune. In the meantime, the power got from the humble 5 port is increasing. Over 150HP can be had from a 1300cc 5 port race motor these days. |
