would it be easy to make a turbo pipe so it can be held over the clutch housing? im thinking of going down the turbo road and thought that instead of hacking out the firewall i would look into alternative mounts

anyone make these by any chance??

cheers

Kazjim has done his turbo conversion without hacking his engine bay to bits.

His turbo sits over the clutch housing, all pipes are tidy and layed out well.

He has a roundie, so he is working in a tight space with the turbo.

There should be piccies on here somewhere.

It can go there, but make sure you allow room for the massive new power solenoid that will control your 2000w sound system and all of your neons and gauges.
While you're at is you may as well get the whole lot chromed and fit the biggest intercooler you can come up with.
Then together with the fully sick 17" rims your mate Habib got ya you will have the most insane mini-boy-racer ever.

I'd work on racing skills before having too much grunt for your first few runs, cause you're only gunna want to useit. Forget the turbo mate.

If its for your road car Id forget it. The coppas will be all over you and you might have it
with too much power for your p plates. Thats at 100 hp though.

p platers in vic still go by power to weight ratio.

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/vrn ... 9D1F0?open

so down here a p plater can buy that little dihatstu convertible with a turbo the size of a pea, but not a newer Commodore or Falcon.

the only way to turbo a mini is to do it the right way... not saying kazjims is not good. but why do all that extra work when the metro turbo setup is proven.. so ya dont want to cut the bulk head... then fork out and get a mirage manifold from uk and rin the smaller turbo.. still fits down the back.

But unless you are will to put LOTS of money into a turbo project... then dont bother doing it half assed..... cause it will not last..... do it right the first time...

The point is he's just over 3 years off getting his P's.
Whats to say the Victorian government won't change that law?
(OK the most likely wont, but the question is still valid)
The cost of a turbo + rebuild + custom manifolds for what he wants would exceed
a good 1275, and the 1275 has the benefits of more reliability, smoother power level, probably better economy, etc.

Id also argue that someone with as little driving experience should not have a turbo.

for the safety of themselves...and more importantly, everyone else on the road.

But that isnt the point of the thread..lol.

PM Kazjim and get him to email you piccies of his engine bay if he can.

ive driven a beemer with a t20 something before, im just after more power out of the 1100, not trying to break any bhp records, or do something to blow everyone away, just more power, im going to either supercharge or turbo it anyway, so either way its going to have forced induction. i wont lie, turbos do have good novilty factor too, but thats not the reason im looking into it

I saw a VERY VERY BLING 220HP? turbo Mini motor (1330cc) today at Mini Classic, the turbo sits up top above the bulkhead. No major firewall butchery required.
Even all the pipes were Bling...
Very nice setup... 8)
