Quick q time. Found a head relatively cheap (mines a stack shitta), the underneath has got oversized valves but has not been machined out (square instead of rounded out like a 12g295). Will this make any difference? All other port work has been done.

It sounds like probably a 12G202 head off a 1098 (or the rarer 12G206). Check number cast on head under rocker gear.
Either of these is better than a stocko 998 one.

A 295 head is basically same as a 206, but machined to take manifold locating rings.
