so i am think about changing my engine in my 74 clubby when it gets restored

from a 1100 to a 1275 efi from a rover frount cut
instead of getting the 1100 rebuilt
because it will cost around the same amount
also i will transfer the dash and gauges

how hard is it to tranfer over and any disavantages

would like any info

Not hard at all.
Especially if you'll be using the Rover subframe.
All that needs doing, which is kinda a pain, is running the EFI lines from the fuel tank (supplied) to the fuel lines at the engine.

Steve will tell ya what else is involved
All in all, it takes him less than a week from start to finish for an old-schooler to new-schooler conversion
Including wiring, dash, etc.

The ONLY disadvantage is, if you choose the rover discs which i would highly recommend, changing your wheels to a 12" set.


Ummm, yep. Thats the only real thing i dislike. I luv my 10s. Nothing suits a Mini better.

And conversions for 12" discs -> 10" discs really aren't too expensive.

So, how hard is it to fit a Rover subframe (with its crap rubber mounts etc), to an Oz shell?
Top mounts are different, fronts different, rear too I think... ????

Yer, the rear 'tails' of he front frame are shorter, and they have a very large rubber mount, too. The frame bolts to this, and then the mount bolts to the body.

I wouldn't say the rubber frames are crap, have you driven a Rover lately? they drive really smooth compared to an old Mini, even with the same clunker old 'A' series chuggin away.

I drove both a Rover and a wet mini recently within a week of each other. Overall the Rover was better in NVH as you'd expect from a car 20+ years younger, however I prefered the ride of the wet mini (which was driven up the "Old South Head Road" goat track as opposed to the smooth streets of Adelaide) as it seemed to absorb the initial bump / shock better. I remember driving the wet Mini and thinking "this is what the Doc was talking about". Note, I did end up buying the Rover.

Okay, so they drive smooth-as compared to an old 'dry' Mini, okay?

Well, my brothers' did, until he put some SPAX shockies in it, whilst they were on their hardest setting .

Softer now, though.
