i currently have a 1974 mini clubman. had it 3 days now. i have a small budget as im nly 17 with this beeing a first car. i want more power from the lawn mower engine without adding webbers ( kuz im broke ), turbos or supercharger. the clubby currently has a new clutch and all new cv joints.

im thinking of installling extractors with a cannon smaked on the end if that would help.
any other help would be appreciated.

thanks for the help.

dont fit a cannon, wont do nothing for performance, go to a mini specialist and get an exhaust, you can get stage one kits for reletively cheap which give a 20 percent power increase to your 998 or 1100 engine (dunno what it is) and just a decent service, new spark plugs, lead etc should help u get a bit more power from ur brick

cheers

if you have an 1100 and its standard id say it would have a 1 1/4 su your best option for power if this is the case is to get a 1 1/2'' su and manifold and a set of 3into 1 extractos this should give you a noticible increase and im sure someone would have some spare.

also put you location in your profile  hope this helps

i have got another question aswell. i think i need new valves or rings. the car blows a fair amount of smoke when accelerating. its not running rich. too much smoke n crap. lots of carbon throughout the oil and sparkies even with the sparkies being relatively new.

what u rekon?

You will not gain any power with a cannon, in fact you'll probably lose power. You want a 1.75" Exhaust, no bigger. You can get a 1.5" carb for peanuts and keep your eye out for some 3into1 extractors. That should keep you happy for a bit until you save some more cash :)

if you want a cannon just cause you think it will sound loud you got the wrong idea my exhaust is louder than most tuner cars with a cannon. just get some LCB extractors and sports exhaust then later on bigger carbie after that the list goes on and on thats what stage i am at, the list goes on and on......

me and my mate where were doin some media trials with a dv cam, i filmed his nissan silvia with a 4 inch cannon, goin around an S bend at 100km. Then i did the S bend in 3rd gear in my 1100 clubby. The bad boy mini, was by far the most loadest over my mates 4inch siliva. And he admitted to it as well. And we have the footage too.

And i run LCB maniflo extracters/heads. 104 cam, 1.75inch straight thru to muffler -> 2.5inch tip.

if you want a beefy tone, go a 2 inch into a cannon..
if you want a rorty tone, go a 1+7/8 and straighthrough..

exhaust, extractors, and bigger carb plus a good tune.. should go pretty good.

valve seals might need replacing, oil leaks through them making the engine smokey..
