atleast its only this so far...
I learnt that about Laminated windscreens many years ago

.. In fact use to have an old 74 Corolla and while travelling up to Queensland one year a truck threw up a rock and hit the windscreen and smashed it instantly because it was'nt a laminated one.
Anyway I ended up having to go to the wreckers and getting another one. But was told by the guy at the wreckers that if I was going to pull a laminated windscreen out of a car make sure that I cut the windscreen rubber rather than trying to pop it out.. Otherwise I would crack the windscreen.
So unsure what to do he did it for me instead

..
But with Minis you will find many unusual things but as it was pointed out to me they never really came out straight from the factory and thats how they were made

..
Just watch out for those rusted nuts and bolts they are the worst

havent found any rusted bolts/screws yet...its all in pretty good nick...and most stuff comes out/off without a fuss...de-riveting the seam running around the car was fun...someone decided to rivet the chrome strip on...so i had to go around and drill out like 40 rivets...was a fun afternoon...
i did end up cutting the rubber round the windscreens in the end...its just i was perplexed as to how the front one would be so fragile...and yet better than the rear one which took ALOT more punishment when i was working out the best way to get it out of the car
i guess mini windscreens arent really all that expensive...not when compared to newer cars...what does a new front one cost? $250 ish? still wish i hadn't busted it
