Hi all

I am trying to source a HIF44 carby for my new SC12 setup, and i think i might have stumbled onto the jackpot.

Image

in that pic, they looks kinda hybrid. like the bell-chamber and dashpot off an older HS strapped to a HIF body. has anyone had any experience with this before ? any problems with it being put together like this ?

any help appreciated

cheers
Pete

Yes they do look hybrid. The HIF top plastic screw is different on a HIF and the dash pot is held in place with a slipwasher. In other words you cannot remove the dash pot cover with first removing the slip washer.

Used HIF invariably need a kit through as a rubber 'O' ring on the choke mechanism hardens very quickly with Australian fuels and this allows raw unmetered petrol to be sucked into the engine. Too the point of black smoke out the exhaust.

There are plenty of HIF44s on ebay england and you would expect to pay less than $80 Aus to have them here in Australia and then less than $20 Aus for the kit. The only mixture is only adjusted by the needle choice but there is needles available here in Australia
