Can the engine from a mini with pot joints and a rod change gearbox be removed without taking of all the brakes, eg top and bottom ball joints. cause with the pot joints, i can pull the drive shaft out of the pot joint easily, while the pot joint is still connected to the diff. |

Yeah, I think I remember just poping the top ball joint and being able to get the drive shafts out of the pots. I'll be someone here has a better way... |

You can get away with only breaking one top ball joint, then moving the engine over slightly to allow the other driveshaft to be removed. For ease, just break both ball joints! Less farting around in the long run. |

I have pulled a couple of pot joint engines without splitting any balljoints. You just need to leaver it free of one and away you go, a bit of a tilt helps. The reverse is a pain though you just have to remember not to put too much grease in the pots but it can be done. just remember to pack the joints with grease before you put the boots back on |

yeah easy, first time i did it without undoing a ball joint, then next time it was much easier when i undid one side. |
