I know i can just go and measure...but...i dont have a measuring tape on hand...

Most bucket seats have fairly wide wings on the side up near where your shoulders are. What is the maximum width for 2 sitting side-by-side in the front of a mini? I am looking at seats that are between 52cm and 58cm wide at that point (they are less wide at all other points). Are these too wide to fit side-by-side in the front?

I have got two of the Cobra seats in and they are the absolute positively totally cannot get any wider than that seats that you can put in a roundnose. They JUST fit in side by side. Its like a wall of seats and padded material and feel ohhhhhh so comfy.

Can flick you a pic if you want.

That'd be grand. what model seats are they? i really dont wanna spend more than about $800 per seat and want them to be FIA approved. Safety first ;) This will be a road/daily driver primarily...with the possibility of track work later on...

this is a pic of them from revolution racegear website. They are the Cobra Daytonas.

Race seat styling with road practicality. As a true sports seat, the Daytona carries race bred features such as full harness facility while maintaining all the features expected of a full reclining road seat. Available in brushed nylon or 'Rock' fabric. Available in Black, Red, Blue and Grey

Mine are black.

this is sort of how they look in the car

Wow...these are 59cm at the shoulders...and these fit without too many troubles? I am looking at some seats that are 56 at the shoulders so if the 59's fit...the 56's should be in like flin...here's the set i am after:

either the imola II (56cm at the shoulders):
Image

or the monaco (52cm at the shoulders):
Image

both in red...obviously the monaco is ALOT cheaper at almost 1/2 the price of the imola 2...depends on what i decide to do i spose...if i really wanna blow $800 (minus mounting brackets and harnesses) on EACH seat :P

would you guys recommend getting the seats installed before i do the sandblast and respray? just so all the holes are in the right place before it gets painted?[/img]

Those seats are NICE..!! My only concession was that I wanted ones that could recline (I am not sure if the ones you are looking at recline).

Yeah these ones fit in perfect from side to side, so I guess thats the answer to your original question about seat width...

RE whether to get them before the respray or not, I am a firm believer in the more that you ensure fits and goes BEFORE respray, the less chance there will be scratching something trying to make something fit AFTER respray...

yeah that's exactly what i was thinking...do everything before spray...then the paintwork wont be compromised by me screwing around after the fact :P

i am not really that interested in reclining seats...the backseats are nice...but having a full-load of passengers really does destroy yer power/weight ratio :P i am looking at building a custom sound stage to go where the back seats are...2 speakers and 2 subs with a nice 500-1000W amp :P then having some splits up front at a later date and the headunit...slung under the dash...but until i have the $6000 that's probably gonna set me back i'll just have no back-seat :P

I put a pair of the Cobra Lowback Classic seats without headrests in my Cooper. In plain red vinyl (contrasting piping is an optional extra). Got them from UK for 74 pounds each plus shipping. Here Revolution Raceparts want $355 for the same seat in black and $400 in any other colour. You can get a purpose built Mini subframe from Cobra to fit them but I made up my own out of alloy. They are incredibly light, much lighter than a Mini seat and very comfortable. Hold you in very firmly and look cool in a classic.

i am going mostly for the extra safety...and the token bling bling that these bring with them...i want my mini to look fairly stock (ex paint job coz that's gonna be nice n new) on the outside but full bling on the inside (inc. mechanical bling)

how much was shipping? coz 74 pounds is like $200ish...which is a MASSIVE saving...if shipping wasnt much more than $50 it'd be a bargain...also how much were the mounting brackets from cobra? i'm lazy and can't be arsed whacking some together myself...plus my welder is currently busted...damn hand-me-downs...

They cost $139 (from ACT Revolution Racegear) per seat.
I've been looking at these as well, but not for Cobra seats.
