I was reading on the performance superlights page that there 12 by 5s come with the option of steel inserts in the threads? i think at extra cost is it worth it it says for racing but for a street car still worth it i drive kinda quick sometimes ![]() |

It's nothing to do with how hard you drive. The steel inserts make the wheel more durable where the nut seats. On a road car where you might remove the wheels once in a blue moon you can get away without inserts provided you always torque the nuts properly (no rattle guns). On a race car where wheel changes are frequent the inserts are needed to stop the nuts sinking a little lower in the seat each time... |
