Can anybody tell me the correct size to drill out the throttle shaft hole in the carburettor body (HS4) for rebushing? I've been looking through my manuals including an SU manual and haven't found anything related to rebushing. Cheers, Anto. |

Correct way to do it is buy an oversize throttle shaft, made by SU for the purpose. Then you ream the body to be a neat fit on the shaft. Don't just stick a drill thru it... ![]() Bushing SU carb bodies to take a standard shaft is a factory reco operation.... if this is what you want, contact SU Midel in Sydney, maybe they can help. Easier to go find another better one... ![]() |

Anto i have access to a comprehensive collection of reams... all imperial from memory. We can always measure the bush accuratley and use and undersize ream at first and gradually move up in sizes (very gradually) until a nice press fit is acheived. |

SUs are not made with throttle shaft bushes, so it's not just a matter of pushing one out and sliding in another. O/S shaft and a reamer is the way to go, really. ![]() |
