Hey all,
I have one of those BMC car manuals, plus another two, but they relate to
cars before the A+ seris.
Will I need another manual to assist in rebuilding my engine? I'm not sure what differences there are in things like clearances, etc that would be different.
Thanks.

Sorry not really answering your question, but when did the A+ engine come out in australia? What year is yours?

The A+ was in the UK minis after the 70s or so. Mines out of an MG Metro.
Only the very last Mokes got the imported engines.
Theres a thread in this forum on that somewhere.

The A+ came out around 1980. Last of the 1275 Mokes got them- we have one in Barney. :D
Seriously, any A series workshop manual will do. 99% of the internals are pretty much the same, except the dizzy driveshaft & dizzy mounting is a bit different- and they have a tensioner for the POS single row timing chain (but ours now has a duplex).

Of course the later A+.... SPI & MPI are a bit trickier. If you have one of those I'd grab a later Haynes manual.

So my 60s BMC manual will be fine for a metro engine?
Beautiful. Thanks.

It's won't cover the Verto clutch if you have one, but serious tuners fling that anyway. It's too friggin' heavy..... and complex. 8)

I have the Haynes Metro manual covering A+ up to 1987 - so if there is anything specific you want just let me know and I'll look it up.

Thanks Jules.
Where did you obtain the manual? In Australia or bought it from Britan?

I bought it many years ago in England (when I also bought my Metro).
