i have search the site for the adress and phone number of the place that sells them in sydney but can't find it. so who knows where i can buy a hif44 turbo in sydney. i heard he also converts 1 3/4 to the turbo type. |

yeah i have a kkk ko4 turbo coming tomoro. it's the upgrade for 1.8 vw they are good the about 225hp so it should be more than enough. and it is only $250 from a low km car. there $1000 brand new. |

same style as kazjim. i'm trying to fing some large cc 1293 pistons now so i can bring the compression down. i don't want to do the chambers because i want it to be reversable if it doesn't work well. |

fair enough..  I am doing the metro style..made the bulk head box today.
what cc pistons you want? 12cc? can't you just get some machined?

If you can get Hypatec pistons in +.020" size, their crowns are thick enough that you can put pretty big bowls in them... no problem. These pistons are cast, not forged, but they are tuff stuff.

Last time I looked std oversize ones were $250/set, but it was a year or so back. Talk to Graham, see what's available. Some sizes of Hypatecs are getting a bit scarce now, but he's getting some other pistons made in Melbourne soon. |

thanks kev. i spoke to SUMidel today and he said around $400 bucks for a converterd hif44 and it would take about a week. now all i need is a plenum. any one got any ideas. or does anyone no the dimensions. and i could get one made up |

Dimentions are not really all that important EXCEPT you need a drillway through from the face of the carb float bowl-inlet to the inside of the plenum AND a 1/8" smaller than the carb face restricter ring at the mouth of the carb... This basically raises the pressure of the air entering the float bowl to slightly (about 2Psi) above that which is going through the throat of the carb so you dont push the fuel DOWN THE JET !! seen heaps of designs, the best bang for buck should have a capacity around the total capacity of your engine + 50% ... so on mine a 1.5litre plenum should be about right.... helps with top-end HP as well as all round smoothness.... hmm this interesting. so i could just use a standard metro one. i think it would be fairly cheap to get one made though. have u got any drawing of a plenuim so i can understand it better |

i was thinking of hanging the turbo slightly out of the bonnet but i think it would end in me getting in alot of trouble with the fuzz |
