Post subject: | Supercharge my 998cc....... |
I'm looking at building a screwcharger set-up for my 998cc. I was thinking of going with a 1275, but I don't have one, don't feel like looking for one, and don't want to ship one. I have a stock 998 right now, so I'm just going to build that up, but I want to copy Mucho Money Mini Mania's screwcharger system and use it on my 998cc. Any reason why I shouldn't do such a thing? Also, I'm thinking I'm going to have to run lower compression. Would a 12G295 head help lower it a bit? The current head is a 12G4816 or something like that. I know there's more that has to go into this, and I have read the thread below as well. Ideas/Opinions/comments? Thanks |

Gday Beau - its a good idea as I am still contemplating the idea too. Some words of advice though before you do it... 1. What cylinder head are you using? I have a nearly finished 998cc rebuild and have the 12G202 heavily ported head off a 1098cc mini. The engineer took the peaks(beaks, the pointy things in the combustion chamber)off and relieved the valves a little. Stops hot spots in the head when you blow it(turbo too...). 2, Plan to plumb in the oil feeds to the blower from the engine - do not rely on the piss-ant reservoir they provide you with the aussie kits. 3. Get your CR right. I stuffed it for a blower(9.5:1 vice the 8.5:1 I wanted - Ce La Vie!!). Get the head buretted, pistons done too if dished, check your deck height too(my pistons are a poofteenth proud of the engine face). 4. Just do it!! I drove in(passenger actually!!) a 998cc blown(sprintex) mini and freaked me out. Retain the 10" wheels and watch your tyres disappear. Braking upgrade is essential(as is a sissy bar for the passengers side dash...lol). Trust me - I had finger marks in this fellows dash - scary ride... Hooroo mate and good luck -keep us informed... id say go the 12g295 head im pretty sure the combustion chambers are bigger and thus lowereing the compression. im pretty sure they are 27cc? aposed to 24cc? for a 12g202 also the 12g295 head is a good performance head as it flows better so yeh id say if u can find a coper head id go for it ![]() |

Another possible head I have to use is a 12G1316. It's a 1275 head, and I have been told I may have to pocket the block a little. I was told that it may work without and pocketing though, as long as the head hasn't been skimmed to much. Supercharger dimensions are 12" long, 7" wide and 5 inches deep. It will work on 1 liter engines too. |

I now have a 1275 to build, so the 998 is gone for now. I will be running a Eaton supercharger. More details soon. I'm not planning on making kits either, just want have a DIY sort of thread. |
