Just a quick question. Is it okay to use a non vented petrol cap on my 65 Mini? Does it make much difference, I figure the fuel tank has a vent pipe anyway?

I currently have a expensive Rover cap that is vented, but it fell off the top of the bowser and broke when I was filling up (which really was the icing on the cake when you consider current fuel prices :) ) Might be able to fix it with epoxy but....

On the other hand I could get one of those nice chrome non locking unvented caps. Looks good, however it also concerns me that it doesn't lock and somebody might pinch my fuel, or add something.

Anto.

If you epoxy anything make sure petrol wont dissolve it or go funny.

Shouldn't be a problem as the part that needs epoxying is on the outside. All that happened is the shiny cover broke off, the cap still works the way it should, but now looks ugly

you can buy a replacement locking cap from supercheap for 17 bucks.
they are not knurled on the outside and pop off when you turn the key
