Post subject:  Roll Cage with out a stamp

I have a full roll cage I'm considering installing.
I have been told its a waist of time as it does not have a stamp on it (stamp from who) also will it fit in a Van instead of a two door

Don't know the answer to this one but am interested in the reply from those in the know.

I am considering installing a cage in my van as well - what will fit in a van and what is minimum requirements if I want to compete in motor sport later?

Half cage? Full cage? CAMS approved? Cubbie V's Roundnose? How do you tell the difference?

A while ago cages could be made from just about anything Alloy, Chrome Molly, Steel, but now CAMS have yet again changed their mind.
If your car was log booked with an alloy cage your laughing but now you can't simply put in an alloy cage into your car and get it log booked.
Now cages are made from CDS or CDW. Cold drawn seemless or cold drawn welded. Really silly stuff from CAMS as both of these aren't made in Australia. I wonder why CAMS won't let us use Palmer Tube Mills (now Smorgan) 550 grade pipe? it was good enough for Dicky.
So as a result a new full cage to suit a Mini welded in will set you back about $4000.

My bro' has a 1/2 cage in the rally Mazda 323 (RWD), I made it one hot Sunday last year, out of ERW tube.
He uses the car for club events (HDCC).
Legal on the road? I dunno, and he doesn't care, but he's never been pinged for it, or the SAAS seats, or the full harnesses.... 8)

I want a roll cage in my clubman van also. It needs to be CAMS approved for sprints and hillclimbs. I Emailed Bond Bars last week, no reply yet....

If its $4000 worth I don't think you will be. Im still unsure if an old role cage is street legal as the one I have. It can only improve saftey.
HIll Climbs LOve the idea I have done a couple of Motokaranes and what great fun.
I think a new post for hill climbs is due
