Could you use a brake booster from some other model car on a mini? e.g a suzi or excel etc. Has anyone done this? |

Most cars these days with a brake booster have it integrated with the master cylinder. To fit it would take some new linkage from the pedal to the booster. Not impossible- I know one ausmini member who has done it. ![]() Personally, I think too much mucking around and would probably need to be engineered.. so I'd just add a VH44... ![]() |

The standard VH44 was on so many Aussie cars (including the Cooper S) that its prob. the easiest and cheapest option. You can still easily buy them reconditioned for $200. And much, much less from wreckers. And you know its a standard fitment item for the minis (in the coop S variant) so not much hassle there). |

There is also a VH40 brake booster it is still the remote brake booster type but there seems to be a few more of them and they are cheaper... They a bigger brake booster though so I am not sure how they would go.... ![]() I suspect that the cylinder part is the same on both these only the vacumn chamber is different so a VH40 might be good for spares ![]() I rang up PBR and you can still buy new VH44 boosters for the same price or less than some mini places sell second hand ones ~$500 ![]() ![]() |

Cool. Will stick with the mini booster - just thought I would ask after pondering the idea after a stroll through a wreckers. |
