Obviously you have not had to deal with the joys of auto chokes (that don't work properly) on other cars.. :lol:

The thing about the auto choke on late SU carbs is what runs the auto choke. On my Austin Montego the HIF44 has the choke run by a computer!

Ha ha,,,hee hee,,,i actually have one of those carbs sitting here,,,i bought it when i went to England once, thought i`d have some fun fitting & setting it up on my roady,,,just havn`t done it yet :-)

Jags used to run an AED unit (Automatic Enrichment Device) that controlled the SU chokes. Bloody thing never worked properly, we used to sell heaps of them. Nothing beats a choke cable.

nothing works better than the driver knowing when to turn the choke on and off. except when they forget...
either way. it is up to whoever is driving the car, and which unit they think would best suit them, and them knowing which one will break down less often
