In my case the problem was the 3mm extra stroke & Chevy big end nuts, these are plain hexagonal and a little bit taller than S nyloc ones. But they miss the Mini-K 4 synchro case with no mods needed.
If you do grind through, it's not the end of the world- I once cut 4 holes in the front of an early 850 case so my 1275 crank with big journal rods would swing.
Just TIG weld some sheet on if you have to, but a standard stroke 1275 should be made to swing without going through a 22G68 casing.

Well... 30 years ago I cast new lumps on using araldite and masking tape, these days a MIG or TIG is the go.
This one of GR's has the latter. 8)

I am wondering about the breather on the fuel pump hole. The addition of a tube on the inside of the hole aimed in a different direction may be a solution. You don't need to have the breather right next to the cam you could aim it anywhere.
A motor on a dyno would be a good place to test it.

I reckon design it with a baffle on end of tube inside the block, that lets the oilz drip off.
Mine was just an S breather canister welded to a flange... as I said, was a waste of time.

Yeah, a baffle plate over the hole or something to just stop the direct stream of oil going into the breather.

A mate had a 186 motor in a Sports Sedan that had a con-rod let go and it punched a nice hole in the side of the block. So he cleaned up the hole and pressed in a bit of pipe, instant breather!

congrats on the great result
Would have been a fun day.
How much running/bedding in did you do other than the 15 min to bed in the cam prior to the power testing

On Saturday morning we ran it in at varying loads and rpm for 30 or 40 mins.
Then we retightened the head, readjusted the rockers to .020", and did the power runs.
During the power runs we tried closing the rockers up to .016", and it immediately lost 7 ft/lb of torque at 5,500 and 6000 rpm...
Note these are not stock rockers though, they are Corollas- 1.46:1.

.004" made that much difference!
Just goes to show how important the valve clearance is.
Have to remember not to be tempted to close it up to quieten it up.
what effect did it have at the lower rpm range?

At 4500 it had lost 5 ft/lb, at 5000 had lost 7 ft/lb.
I was going to try them at .018" too, but got sidetracked...
